Helen Siwak is an entrepreneur and founder of the ecoluxury lifestyle boutique THECloset YVR. I met her early on in my Style by Fire days and was immediately drawn in by her strong passion for eco-friendly fashion, the environment, and animal welfare. Beginning as an online boutique, TheCloset YVR provided the perfect outlet to channel her passions by offering pre-loved luxury clothes and accessories by top international designers. Helen would generously open up her closet for me to play dress-up in and show off the vintage finds at stylish events about town, including menswear designer Christopher Bates’ launch at Holt Renfrew and The Deighton Cup.
Helen and her husband Vlassis Xanthopoulos have taken their business to the next level and opened a retail space in Gastown. Besides stocking a curated selection of ecoluxury fashion and local artisan products for both men and women, THECloset YVR has expanded to provide complementary lifestyle services. With extensive experience in both styling and designing, Dominique Hanke of Hive Mind Millinery is THECloset’s in-house ecostylist and offers consultative services to clients who want to hone their wardrobe. In addition, clients can add their measurements and preferences to a VIP database to ensure they receive a custom tailored shopping experience. Consignment clients have access to complimentary authentication and appraisal services by two off-site professionals.
THECloset YVR also aims to host monthly mini in-store pop-up shops featuring local designers and artisans, as well as other special events such as charity shopping nights and a private fashion lounge club.
Congratulations to Helen and Vlassis on the grand opening of their boutique – it is inspiring to see the committed pursuit and materialization of the two partners’ vision. THECloset YVR is open Mondays to Saturdays from 11am to 6pm, and by appointment on Sundays. The boutique is located at 360 Carrall Street in Gastown, Vancouver.
