Four VCC Fashion and Production students are putting their skills to the test. They designed a lavender wrap top (Tokyo Top, $225) and a teal and beige sheer-sleeved top (P-Top, $225) selling at Gastown’s One of a Few.
The process began in the first term when the students created the patterns. In the second term, the patterns were adapted to the design requirements of One of a Few owner Michelle Rizzardo.
She says, “It is important for me to support the students and their learning, but I needed to know that the tops would work for the look of my store and the selection I have coming in for spring.”
The pieces are sold under VCC Fashion Program’s Colure brand, which is in its third season. The first season started with tote bags sold at Bird on a Wire, then t-shirts, and now the fashion students are getting into more complex draped tops.
