To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nike Air Max, only 50 new Nike Air VapourMax sneakers lauched at Nordstrom Vancouver on March 18th, 2017, and according to staff, sold out in under two hours.
This is part of a series of Nordstrom x Nike female-oriented pop-up shops, created after the success of Nike pop-ins from April 2015.
On the special edition Nike Air Max 90s, there’s a golden “VANCOUVER” tag at the bottom of the laces, a small golden “604” tag on the side of the shoe, and on the toe part are custom-designed laser engraved icons inspired by the city of Vancouver (incl. a hockey stick, “Vancouver” spelled out, among others)
“We know our customer loves Nike, and rather than build her a fitness-only shop, we looked at how she really wears it in her daily life,” said Olivia Kim, Vice President of Creative Projects at Nordstrom. “She’ll wear exclusive sneakers with her favorite denim, a designer handbag, an amazing jacket and a special nail polish color – we have all of this all in one place. We wanted to give her what she wants and needs through an entirely new space and service model.”
Sneakerheads, if you missed out on this one, don’t fret. Nike’s Air Max Day is on March 26th, and the sneaker boutique will have another exclusive launch.
This is the fourth ‘Nordstrom x Nike’ sneaker boutique. Other boutiques are located in Nordstrom CF Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto, Nordstrom Michigan Avenue in Chicago, and Nordstrom Downtown Seattle.
