Skincare Review: Graydon Plant-Powered Skincare

About my skin before we delve into the product review, step by step: I have what is considered normal skin that is generally clear with the occasional breakout. I wear medium-heavy makeup daily and am now very diligent about cleansing my face thoroughly before bed. I wear sunscreen daily, treat myself to a deep cleansing moisturize masque weekly after doing an extensive facial steam.

Lately I’ve been having a real love affair with my skin. With the weather being unpredictable it’s been more important than ever to treat my skin with kid gloves. I have been treating my skin better than ever and Graydon Skincare is to thank.

Mindfully made in Canada, Graydon’s philosophies are based in curating plant-power ingredients that feed your skin nutrients and raises the bar in luxurious, holistic personal care. I had a chance to try 4 of their most popular products for review which ended up being a great introduction to the brand.

As I shift towards more green beauty products it can be overwhelming and subsequently fall down a rabbit hole trying new types of products I’ve never really researched before. Should something be eco-friendly and organic? Gluten-free? Vegan? I’ve been shopping for beauty products more like I’ve been grocery shopping keeping in mind that ingredients that go on my skin is just as important as the ingredients that go into my body.

Face Foam

Created for super sensitive skin, Face Foam didn’t pack as much of a punch as I’m used to when it comes to skin cleansers. Because my skin is more normal than it is sensitive and I wear medium-heavy makeup daily, I prefer cleansers that leave a squeaky-clean feeling (although that is probably a bit too harsh for my skin). The product foamed nicely and I liked that it was unscented. Because it’s not as much of a heavy hitter when it comes to makeup removal, I found myself reaching for other cleansers in the evening but found this cleanser to be a godsend for taking care of my new calf tattoo as it’s healing, leaving that portion of skin extra sensitive. Green Cream

It’s called the Green Cream because it’s full of phytonutrients, including chlorophyll. This cream is like a salad for your skin. Infused with broccoli, avocado, coconut, olive, and aloe this cream provides your skin with powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients to help your skin, no matter your skin type, be the best version of itself. It’s ultra-moisturizing without being greasy. I found that this moisture was light enough for daily use. ($35 at Kiss and Makeup)

Face Glow

With a light shimmer infused with mineral mica to reflect light and blur imperfections, Face Glow can be used either as an illuminator or primer. Initially when I tried it I was surprised by how tinted the product really was and found the shimmer a little too “pink” for my yellow-undertoned skin. While it makes for a great highlighter I didn’t love it as a primer. It was a bit too sticky for my skin type, which created an odd finish once layered with foundation. I think that this would be a great product for someone with drier skin, someone who has more of a pink undertone or even for someone who is looking for a subtle glow in their skincare. Keto Cleanse

Saving the best for last! Keto Cleanse is the product I didn’t know I was missing in my routine until I started using it. This extremely effective product is a new staple in my skincare routine and I already know that once I finish this bottle I will be looking to purchase another. The product itself comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator and it smells like pure coconut.

To use the product you dispense a small amount in your hands and pat it on your face and neck, even on top of makeup, let it sit for 2-3 minutes and wipe it off. You will be surprised how much dirt, grime and makeup a few drops of this miracle oil will remove. This eco-friendly alternative removes all the excess gunk from my skin yet hydrates my face. The coconut oil works to loosen everything nasty from my skin making wiping it off easy without any tugging of my skin prepping my skin for cleansing at the end of the day. Bottom line: Keto Cleanse completely replaces makeup wipes in my daily routine. ($25 at Kiss and Makeup)

The Verdict

If you’re looking to make more eco-friendly choices in our skincare routine, Graydon Skincare is worth some serious consideration. Since your skin is your largest organ it’s worth researching products that are free of mineral oils, chemicals, parabens and sulfates. Ideal for troublesome skin, all Graydon products seem to be free of artificial dyes or synthetic aromas. If you are apprehensive of jumping headfirst into Graydon my suggestion would be to try the Keto Cleanse. Seriously, this product has replaced my makeup wipes and eye makeup remover which is impressive because I wear some bulletproof coverage foundation. It’ll change the way you remove makeup and make a believer out of even the most skeptical skincare aficionados that like their complicated ingredient products.

Kiss and Makeup was kind enough to gift me a few skincare goodies to try out and review for Style by Fire. All thoughts and opinions are my own and not influenced by the brand or their affiliates.
